Ó Chonnamara go Corn na Breathainne 2025 (Galway to Cornwall)
GBSC is delighted to again invite you to join the fearless skippers from all points along the West Coast of Ireland for the next of our 3-yearly Celtic Adventures, this time from to Cornwall.
This is strictly NOT a BLAZER EVENT!
If our last great adventures to Lorient (2019) and Galloway (2022) were anything to go, then it should be a adventurous, relaxing, involve plenty of craic and leave lots of lasting memories!
You have no doubt considered such a cruise on your own, but this event brings the opportunity to share the adventure and have friends around in case you need them. Another big advantage is that you will have lots of help planning your boat, your crew safety and your route. Where possible we will attempt to arrange some events and an element of Celtic cultural exchange.
While there are suggested departure dates below, feel free to depart your base and arrive in Cornwall before the rest of us if that suits your schedule! However, make sure to join the flotilla for the Craic in Falmouth on July 6th.
If you are on a tight schedule, making the delivery on a "just-in-time basis", then the official (arrival) rendezvous points are:
- Falmouth 4th July
- Fowey 6th July
- Plymouth 8th July
Obviously, everything is weather dependent, and we encourage skippers to stay in port unless you are comfortable to proceed!
(All dates shown below are to be taken as 'arrival dates'!)
A typical plan might be to travel to Co Cork a weekend or two before we depart for the UK.
Then, departs
- Sun 29th Jun Kinsale o
- Tue 2nd July St Mary's, Scilly Isles on
- 4th July St lves or Newlyn (depending on shelter)
Reminder of the Official Gathering: Arriving on
- Sun 4th Jul Falmouth
- Tue 6th Jul Fowey
- Thur 8th Jul Plymouth
Departing Plymouth for home Sat 10th July
One of the most enjoyable aspects of the event is travelling in a group. We have designed a distinctive 2m *1m Battle Flag for the occasion. This helps.us to find each other when we arrive into the various ports. These flags cost a minimum of €50 to make. Ordering the correct amount, in order to avoid a shortage or obsolete stock is a challenge and we ask for your help in this regard!
The Registration fee of €100/boat covers the obligatory Battle Flag and some funds for prizes/presentations.
All crew are asked to memorise 2 songs, poems or recitations in case there of any lulls in the festivities as dawn approaches while 're-energising' while ashore! No singing is encouraged in the confines of small sailing yachts around the Celtic Seas.
If you have any questions please do note hesitate to contact either Cormac or Johnny either directly or on the WhatsApp group for the trip.
