Cong-Galway 2023 - postponed to Sunday, 03 September, 2023

The Cong-Galway sailing race was established by Corrib Rowing and Yachting Club (CRYC) in 1882. Today, the race remains the longest inland water sailing race in Europe.

The race is organised by all the local sailing clubs – Corrib Rowing and Yacht Club, Galway Bay Sailing Club, Galway City Sailing Club, Cumann Seoltóireachta An Spidéil and the Galway Hookers Sailing Club. The race is open to all sailors from all parts of the world – but most of the participants are Irish.

The fleet is limited to a maximum of 40 boats and comprises a variety of boats from racing dinghies to Galway Hookers and everything in between. The race is run over two legs with a mid-way break for lunch at Kilbeg pier. The race finishes on the river Corrib before the Quincentennial Bridge.

Lunch and after race food are included in the entry for the sailors.
